Whether you are a beginner witch or you have been practising for a long time, here is a guide on which crystals are useful for everyday practises:
1. Clear Quartz- Clear quartz is one of the most common crystals. It comes in many forms and is found worldwide. Quartz is the most powerful healing and energy amplifier on the planet due to its unique helical spiral crystalline form, which is a hexagonal structure. It can take on almost any task given, for example, storing, releasing and regulating energy, enhancing psychic abilities, cleansing the soul, aiding concentration and attuning the user to their true spiritual purpose. Quartz is also an excellent aid in meditation practice.

2. Rose quartz- Rose quartz is an easily obtained stone which supports unconditional love and peace. It is the most important stone associated with the heart chakra, purifying and opening the heart on all levels, bringing deep inner healing and self-love, as well as being an excellent tool for attracting the love of others, both platonic and romantic.

3. Amethyst- Amethyst is another one of the most common crystals and comes in all types of shapes and sizes. It is an extremely powerful and protective stone with a high spiritual vibration that protects against psychic attacks, transmuting that energy into love. It has strong healing and cleansing powers and enhances spiritual awareness. Traditionally, it was worn to prevent drunkenness for its powers in sustaining sobriety.

4. Tigers eye- Tigers eye is a typically golden-brown stone but can be blue-toned or red. It combines the energy of the earth with that of the sun to create a high vibrational state which is also grounded. Traditionally, Tigers Eye was carried as a talisman to protect from ill-wishing and curses, however, it is also a good tool for bringing integrity to the surface and promoting clarity of intention.

5. Selenite- Selenite comes in different forms, one is translucent, which is true selenite, one is translucent with fine ribbing, which is called satin spar, and one is coarser and usually sand coloured, and petal-like in appearance, which is called desert rose. Selenite is typically associated with the crown and higher crown chakras and is an excellent cleansing stone when placed with other crystals. Selenite can be used to form a protective grid around a house by being placed in corners, to protect the inhabitants from negative energies, and instils deep peace and tranquillity, especially during meditation.

6. Howlite- Howlite is a common stone originating from the United States. Howlite is typically coloured artificially but is naturally white. Howlite is a calming stone, good for anxiety and when placed under a pillow, an excellent antidote for insomnia. It also teaches patience and helps to eliminate rage and uncontrollable anger.

7. Sodalite- Sodalite is an easily obtained stone and is usually fairly inexpensive. Sodalite is commonly associated with the throat chakra and the third eye chakra. It stimulates the pineal gland and third eye and deepens the practice of meditation.

8. Citrine- Natural citrine is a comparatively rare stone which can be expensive and is mainly used as a powerful cleanser and regenerative stone. Citrine is a stone that possesses such cleansing power that it does not ever need cleansing, as it absorbs, transmutes, dissipates and grounds negative energy. It has the ability to cleanse the chakras, especially the solar plexus and navel chakras. It activates the crown chakra and opens the intuition. Citrine cleanses and balances the subtle bodies, aligning them with the physical.

9. Tourmaline (black)- Tourmaline is a common and fairly inexpensive stone which is useful for protection. It is associated with the base/root chakra and is very good for grounding energy and dispersing negative energies. Black tourmaline promotes a laid-back attitude and objective neutrality with clear and rational thought processes.

10. Obsidian (black)- Black obsidian is a common and inexpensive stone which is commonly associated with the root chakra. Obsidian brings imbalances and shadow qualities to the surface for release and magnifies all negative energies so that they can be fully experienced and released. Black obsidian is a protective stone which disperses unloving thoughts and provides support during times of change.
